I am restless today. I have been restless for a while. How can I not be when everything around me is in constant shift?
We cannot talk about our internal state without addressing the external. Work, family, unrest in the world among many other things affect our relationship to ourselves. And this relationship to the self affects how we show up in the world. So if you find yourself looking inwards and not understanding what is causing churn, take inventory of what is happening in your world.
To explore this further, our internal state can be stimulated by the most passive triggers: a conversation you overheard on the subway, a ping from your boss, an old song that came up on shuffle. So without judgement, observe your thoughts. You have probably heard this in a yoga class somewhere but bearing witness to your mind can increase your focus.
